HEALTH ASPECTS (2)
In the case of bacterial infections, always consult a VDM for advice, have the faeces checked and treat the snakes accordingly. Experience has shown that Corallus caninus, like Morelia viridis (GTP), is best kept in a more or less 'sterile' environment.

Stress-related health issues
Corallus caninus is a very sensitive and fragile species and easily stressed, so preventing and/or eliminating stress should be one of the primary issues in the husbandry of these snakes. Stress may cause bacterial infections as the snake's immune system (resistance) will break down as a result of this. Stress is not always related to overhandling. It also relates to incorrect environment settings (humidity and temperature), excess traffic in the vicinity of the confinement and discomfort within the confinement (insufficient hiding spots, no variations in temperature within the confinement, insecure perches, offering prey when the snakes are not really hungry and mite infestations (which make the snakes irritable).
