Copulations in this pair commenced half way through May 2008 and continued throughout May, June and the first 2 weeks of July 2008. The shortest copulation lasted 2 hours and the longest copulation 14 hours [23:00 on 7-7 to 13:00 hrs on 8-7-2008] on 7 July 2008. A second and third female also copulated numerous times with the same male [for several hours at a time] but discontinued copulations in June 2008 and have remained on their perches [same spot] since. One female is verified as 'gravid' after ovulating; another is uncertain. The pairing photographed here [third picture top row] was the longest observed on 7 July 2008. All copulations commenced shortly after prolonged spraying with luke-warm water late in the evening [between 22:00-23:00 hrs].

The male used for these pairings is approximately 4 years old and weighs 800 grams. The females vary in age from 4-8 years with wights of between 900-1500 grams. Pairings were induced by a preliminary cooling period at the end of December through to March and April. Pairings commenced after gradual warming in the middle of May 2008.
